SCIENCE FICTION TERRITORY In real life, it is highly unlikely you’d get to go on a dangerous military reconnaissance mission behind enemy lines without risk of injury or death. And unless you had supernatural powers, you couldn’t expect to hear the voices of the departed when you visited a graveyard. And you’d certainly have to have a pretty powerful imagination to see yourself fl ying on a magic carpet or receiving a guided tour of the ocean by a friendly dolphin. But thanks to various forms of digitally created immersive environments, you can experience all of these things, and in a way that is convincingly lifelike.
