ABSTRACT
PerhapsthemostinfluentialmovementtoappearinBahrainin theseventhcenturyA.D.thatweareconcernedwithhere,wasthe Kharijitemovement.Thismovementemergedasaresultofthebattle ofSiffinwheretheKharijitesproposedthattheCaliphshouldbe electedfrommenagreedonbytheIslamiccommunityasawhole irrespectiveofthegrouptowhichhebelonged.Theyadoptedthe slogan'ThereisnojudgementbutGod's'.Possiblyoneofthemost historicallyimportantfiguresinBahrainintheseventhcenturyA.D. wasNajdaIbn'Amiral-Harilrial-Hanafi36-39A.H.(665-668A.D.). HewasfromtheBeniHanifaofBakrIbnWa'ilandwasthefounder andorganiserofthebranchoftheKharijitesknownastheNajadiyya. HewasthefirsttoappearwiththeKharijiteleaderNafi'aIbnal-Azraq whodiedin65A.H.(685A.D.).HewasoneofAliIbnAbiTfilib's clientsandasoldierinhisarmyatthebattleofSiffin.Therehewas oneofthosewhogatheredinHarura',avillageontheoutskirtsof Kufa,andcalledfortherebellionagainstAli.Thisishowtheyand thosewhoweretofollowthembecameknownastheKharijites, thosewhorebel.Nafi'aheadedthebranchknownastheAzariqa whichisoneofthemostfanaticalgroups.
