JustastheretrenchmentofOttomanpower,ononeside, resultedintheemergenceofnewArabautonomiesinEgypt,Syria, andIraq,sothecollapseofPersianpowerintheGulffollowingthe deathofNadirShahwastoresultintheemergenceofnewArab principalitiesthere.NadirShah,inhistime,hadsentforcestosubdue theYarubidimamateinOman;hismilitaryaggressivenessmusthave hadthenaturaleffectofreassertingPersianruleovertheislandsof Bahrain.Hardlywashedead,however,whenanewIbadidynasty, thatoftheBu-Saids,expelledthePersiansfromOmanandreestablishedthecountryasanindependentimamateunderitsown rule.Abouthalfacenturylater,PersiafinallylostBahrain,herlast strongholdintheGulf,totribalnewcomersfromtheArabian mainlandledbythehouseofAlKhalifa.
