Britainsuccessfullyinducedthemajorpowerstorallyagainst MohammadAlisoonafterthedefeatoftheOttomanarmyatthe battleofNazzebin1839andtheEgyptianforces'pushonIstanbul. MohammadAlihadtowithdrawhisforcesfromtheArabian Peninsulainthefaceofthemajorpowers'allianceagainsthimand sentthefollowingcommunicationtoK.horshidPashainreplytothe latter'sferventreportsrequestingsoldiers,provisions,equipmentand necessaryorderstocontinuehisactivitiesintheArabianGulf:
'ThetimeisnottheauspiciousoneIhadimaginedandhoped for.Hismaintasknowistopreparehisforcesforwithdrawalfrom BahrainandtoleavethecountrytoKhalidibnSaudwiththe understandingthatheleavehimenoughsoldiers.Heshouldthen headforEgyptwithhisforcesandcloseallaccountsthatwere openedforhisprojects.'
