ABSTRACT

O n returning to Eng l and I went to work for the H a r v a r d M i s s i o n to I re land which was one of the schemes set up to help deal w i th the very bad unemployment in Ireland i n the 1930s, and the men who worked for us were a l l unemployed Ir ish labourers. T h e M i s s i o n was a mixed one, ma in ly A m e r i c a n but also inc lud ing I r ish , Eng l i sh and Aus t r a l i an . It was under the directorship of H u g h Hencken wi th H a l l a m L . M o v i u s J u n i o r as the field director.
