ABSTRACT
An owner whose property is taken under statutory powers is entitled to compensation as of right, unless the Act which authorises the acquisition expressly provides otherwise. Where no interest in land is taken but a property is depreciated in value by the exercise of statutory powers, the owner’s right to compensation depends on the terms of the Act under which these powers are exercised.
