Inthehistoryofanationtherecomesatimewhenthepeople becomeawareofthenecessityforfar-reachingchange.Itwas preciselyatsuchamoment,on19December1947,thatKwarne NkrumahlandedinTakoradi.TheGhanawhichNkrumahhadleft inthethirtieswasnottheGhanatowhichhereturned.Thepeople weretiredofcolonialrule.Throughoutthelandanatmosphereof excitement,anticipatingfreedom,wasevident.Ghanawasreadyto fight.
