ABSTRACT
Most members serve a term of two years, although about half continue for a longer period. They are recruited into the organization in a number of ways. A few are asked by the heads of the neighbourhood association to join. Others, whether by intermediary or through personal acquaintanceships, are approached by people already in the sports committee. Thus, for example, two
memberswererecruitedbytheirhigh-schoolfriendwhowas alreadyactiveinthecommittee,whileanothermanwas approachedbyoneofthecommittee'sassistantchairmenwhom hehadmetwhentheirchildrenplayedinthesameschoolvolleyballclub.
