ABSTRACT
Lime mortars are relatively flexible and surprisingly able to adjust to seasonal movement and
subsidence but their major drawback is their slow set. Lime plaster sets by slowly absorbing carbon
dioxide from the atmosphere and returning to its initial chemical form, calcium carbonate.
