During the first millennium Be a new script appeared in the mountainous zone in the southern part of the Arabian peninsula. Together with the ruins of the great walled cities and splendid monuments, this script points to the rise of a group of complex societies which, at that time, played an important role in the historical events taking place between the Mediterranean Sea and the Indian Ocean.
