WITH the reunification of Egypt under Kontjuhotpe II, the development of royal canopies can once more be picked up; however, as with so many other aspects of Middle Kingdom royal funerary archaeology, 'development' is something of a misnomer, as each installation prior to the Thirteenth Dynasty seems to bear little or no relationship to its immediate precursor or successor.'
