ABSTRACT
TheNCWCDhoubarabustardcaptive-breedingprojectatthe NWRCformsjustonepart,albeitalargepart,oftheprogramme fortherestorationofthehoubarabustardinSaudiArabia.The restorationprogrammehasthelong-termgoalofsecuringselfsustainingpopulationsofhoubarawithinanetworkofmanaged sitesthroughoutSaudiArabia.Theprogrammehastwocomponents:theconservationofwildhoubara,residentandmigratory, andthereintroductionintosuitablehabitatofcaptive-bredhoubara(Seddon1994).
