ABSTRACT

This chapter and Chapter 8 are centered on recent developments in American philosophy beyond the Pragmatists. Because the number of American philosophers working in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries is exceptionally large and their areas of concentration are broad and far-reaching, Chapter 7 covers metaphysics, epistemology, philosophy of science, philosophy of religion with special attention to the unity of Native American philosophy while Chapter 8 is devoted to ethics, social philosophy, and political philosophy.
