ABSTRACT
The Latin American subcontinent hosts societies that exhibit particular idiosyncrasies in their interactions with the natural world. These idiosyncrasies are at least partially a result of people's exposure to their physical environment, while shared beliefs are a result of centuries of colonization, especially from Europe. Asian, African, and of course Native American influences are also manifested in people's attitudes toward the environment.
