Inmultiplicityofdetailandinelaboratenessofpreparation andconsummationtheJapaneseEnthronementRitesare perhapsthemostcomplicatedinhistory.Anaccountofthe detailsofrobes,dances,songs,banquets,processions,etc., -fascinatingeventsofbrilliantcolorandactionthatinvite investigation-isbeyondthepurposeofthepresentdiscusion,whichistopresentanoutlineofthegreatceremonies andaninterpretationthereof.Howthenshallweunderstandtheseinvolvedandmanifoldrites?Isthereanypoint ofviewfromwhichwecanfindaunifiedperspectiveinthe midstofallthisdetail?
