ABSTRACT

The Leeds Metropolitan University, UK Masters in Foresight and Futures Studies was developed by a University-wide team and first offered in 1996. The course was based on several years experience in futures education in a number of areas in the University. The philosophy and structure of the degree is outlined together with details of the core futures modules. Student evaluation from the first semester in 1996 and the ideas of the course team for further developments in futures education are outlined. The value of a broad academic base for futures is apparent from the experience of the staff and students involved in this development.
