ABSTRACT

This chapter examines aspects of the educational policies put forward from two of the most progressive and dynamic economies in South East Asia, namely Malaysia and Singapore, to meet the challenges of educating and training its youth for the world of work in the 1990s and into the next millennium. The leaders of both countries aspire to have I developed' country status by the early part of the next century and therefore put particular stress on the education and training for youth employment to achieve this goal.
