ABSTRACT
Summary: This chapter surveys the likely pressures on the educational system, particularly in relation to lifelong education and training, as a consequence of the pressure of technological change in our society.
It then considers some of the ways in which more flexible and diverse provision can be made, through open learning, flexible study arrangements, the bringing together of education, training, advice and consultancy, and the closer linking of educational institutions, communications networks and libraries.
