ABSTRACT

Lis’n Tell: Live Inclusive Storytelling,1 is a way of telling a story that includes what is happening in the moment. It is an approach to communication development that sets out to promote curiosity, encourage wonder, facilitate joy and invite responsibility – leading to ‘spontaneous intentional participation’. This is a term I developed 10 years ago in response to the results that I and Lis’n Tell-trained teachers and therapists saw. Some children taking part in Lis’n Tell sessions at school were responding, verbally or non-verbally, without cues or prompts, for the first observable time in group situations.
