AfterWorldWarII,thedisciplineoftropicalmedicinewouldberemade.Inthe yearsupto1945itwasfashionedbythedemandsofconstructiveimperialismand reactedtodevelopmentsinmedicalscience.After1945,colonialismgavewaytoa newstyleinternationalpoliticsandanewperceptionofhealthandmedicineinthe ThirdWorldemerged.Problemsofdiseasecouldnowbesolvedonagrandscale. OnthenewglobalmaptheLSTMappearedasasmallspeck,however,itcontinued tomouldtropicalmedicineinBritainandinthosepartsoftheworldwhereitmade itspresencefelt.DespitetheendoftheformalBritishempirethenumberof overseascontactshasincreasedfromtheendofthewartothepresentday.
