ABSTRACT
The Badia encompasses a wide and significant part of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. It covers an area of approximately 72,600km2, which constitutes 81 per cent of the total area (89,400km2 ) of Jordan (Fig. 1). The region is sub-divided into three geographical areas as follows:
- Northern Badia which comprises 35 per cent (25,930km2) of the Badia total area; - Middle Badia which comprises 13 per cent (9,634km2) of the Badia total area; - Southern Badia which comprises 51 per cent (37,096km2) of the Badia total area.
