Nietzsche and Blake affirm that exuberance is beauty but neglect the other half of the dialectic; I mean the claim of security, of marriage as a settled state of love, of home. The bigger picture, one which does justice to both the impelling freedom of demonic energy and the holiness of settled peace, comes through in Hegel, but Hegel had forbears.
