ABSTRACT

The relative ease with which audio and video materials can be used makes them very suitable for interactive activities. The viewer can interact with both imageand sound-based text, and can explore it, study it, play within it. In common with efficient reading of a text, and to use that as a metaphor, the pause button gives the viewer time to look up from the “page” and reflect on what’s just been “read”, before picking up where s/he left off. If this interaction is managed by the teacher, then the whole class or group can do the same thing.
