ABSTRACT

Pair-work needs to be meaningful in order to succeed, and if the two members of the pair have slightly different tasks, which complement each other, this can avoid some of the dangers of unequal completion of the task. The work can range from very tightly controlled to much more open-ended. Equally, pairs can remain together for the whole exercise (“Fixed partners”), or partners may change during the course of it (“Multiple partners”). This chapter offers ideas across the whole range.
