ABSTRACT

A small child is sitting in her car seat on a long journey. ‘Where is Love’, from the musical Oliver, is being played on the cassette player. She says very little and makes very little noise, except to insist on hearing the same music for a mind-numbing nth time. Every now and again she lets out a great sigh. Then her parents notice something interesting. The sigh coincides with the end of the musical phrases. Some kind of internal activity seems to be taking place which is reflected in this physical action of sighing.
