ABSTRACT

The Hare-Moon is found also in China. Whether this isthrough direct influence from India cannot at presentbe stated with any certainty, although the possibility cannot be ruled out. It is, however, believed by more than one authority that Indian influence reached Cllina as early as the fourth century B.C., owing to the close similarities found between th!3 teachings of Taoi~m which arose in that century in China, and those of Buddhism which arose during the previous century in India.
