ABSTRACT
WHY IS PLANNING IMPORTANT? Planning has special importance in broad content areas like social studies where there is so much information. Because of the breadth of the field, even the best and most experienced teachers will not have comprehensive knowledge. All teachers need to use numerous resources. The resource possibilities are constantly growing. The Internet and a growing variety of computer software packages alone have increased the possibilities astronomically. One of the major elements in good planning is finding and collecting the best resources and organizing them in a purposeful way.
