ABSTRACT
Training is the foundation upon which any profession stands. Professional boards have typically set standards for law, medicine, nursing, social work, and psychotherapy. Crucially, training and the resultant license or certification to practice includes some level of competence testing, supervised internship and various degrees of specialization. All of these standards are set by professional boards and national or international government organizations to ensure a certain base level of knowledge, practice, competence, and ethical standards.
