ABSTRACT

Compare<l with what had preceded it in the history of the Rashids, this was a natural though stupid death_ For his father Mit'eb was killed by his two nephews Bandar and Badr, the sons of Abd'ul-Aziz's uncle Telal ; and Bandar and Badr were consequently put to death by the other uncle, the great Muhammad, whom Charles Montagu Doughty met in 1875. 'Ya Muslemin (0 ye Muslems),' cried Muhammad in the public square of Haiel, exonerating himself: 'Wallah! I have killed them only to save this,' and he struck his neck with his hand. 'They sought to slay me, but I got ahead of them. And do you think, ya Muslemin, that they who slew my brother Mit'eb would let me escape? '
