SULLIVAN, WRITING AS A THEATRE critic for the New York Times, describes what might be considered a play of witness, created by inner-city youth, shedding light on urban conditions that have loomed out of control. A good example of the close relationship that often exists between street and community-based performance, the play is described by Sullivan as ‘speakCing] not just to an audience but for it, and with it’ Soon after this production, playwright Maryat Lee returned to her rural southern home and helped develop eco-theatre there.
