The aims of this chapter are to:
briefly review the history of environmental performance monitoring;
explore some of the indicators that can be used for monitoring;
examine a range of monitoring approaches, including
ISO 14031
United Nations manuals ° European Union directives
Defra's Environmental Key Performance Indicators: Reporting Guidelines for UK Business
Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)
Event Organizers Sector Supplement
DIT-ACHIEV model
other approaches; and
review some of the environmental indicators used or advocated within the event industry.
