Paralysing Influence Upon the Individual THERE have been a few notable instances where all the efforts of the tormentors have failed to break the will of their victims. In most of these cases the persons concerned have been religious fanatics who were prepared to suffer martyrdom in the service of their god rather than secure peace on earth, or they have been masochists who secured pleasure from experiencing physical persecution.
