ABSTRACT

This chapter will take a look at the basics everyone will need not only in sports publicity, but in the general business world as well. Today’s world has put us in a time crunch, so many times the writing that is generated is in short bursts; thoughts included in brief emails, on a blackberry, or in short notes. This chapter will look at the two essential skills, reading and writing, that can help set the great publicist apart from the good ones. It will also deal with the highly important area of public speaking, and how this critical tool will make the publicist more valuable in the workplace.
