An old Shintoist said, "Japan is like a pine tree growing naturally in the mountains. Other countries are like a pine trimmed, shaped and planted in a garden."
A Buddhist said, "Japan, like Switzerland, is rich in natural beauty, but if the beauty added to Japan were removed the loss could not be measured."
