ABSTRACT

Another fish dealer is the delight of children, for the round wooden tubs suspended from the ends of his pole are filled with goldfish. Slender streaks of gold dart here and there around fat, majestic, flowing-tailed varieties. Occasionally a protruding-eyed black one swims leisurely about as if he knew his fancy tail would bring a fancy price. Sometimes there are so many fish in the tub that the dealer can hardly get his flat net scoop into the water to catch the one some chubby little finger points out to him.
