ABSTRACT
Art reflects the various ranks which made up Hellenic society. It has at its disposal for this nuances whose meaning frequently escapes modern folk, unaccustomed as they are to read works from which they ask nothing beyond aesthetic emotion, but which spoke a social language which was clear as day to the ancients.
