ABSTRACT

India’s relations with the United States can be examined under two broad periods, viz. the Cold War period and the post-Cold War period. In each of these periods, again, transactions between the two countries can be classified into political, economic, and military transactions—although with unavoidable overlapping. The post-Cold War era, again, may be subdivided into the periods before and after 11 September 2001 (also known as 9/11), that is the day Islamist terrorists attacked New York’s World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
