ABSTRACT
Japan, located in Far East Asia, is composed of four major islands and many smaller islands. About 70% of the land is mountainous. Having a high population density, most of Japan’s people reside in towns and cities. In order to avoid conflicts and achieve ‘harmony’ (wa), people in Japan have created a society that praises conformity over individual uniqueness.
