ABSTRACT
The contribution or significance of biotechnology to future generations lies in its power to change the genetic make-up of future living organisms, including human beings. Humans are not living in a void but in the midst of myriad living and non-living beings. Thus, future generations include not only future peoples, but also all species of living organisms, though our usual reference is to homo sapiens only. In this chapter I use the wider scope of the meaning of future generations and refer to human as well as nonhuman, sentient as well as non-sentient beings.
