ABSTRACT
Colonization and the relative progress of agricultural production turned primarily to the advantages of the upper ranks of Western society. On the other hand, the free communities, which owned the soil in common in certain parts of Christendom, were little by little eliminated either wholly or partially from this ancient possession.
