ABSTRACT
Anthropology, sociology, and psychology are sometimes collectively referred to as the behavioral sciences. They often focus on the understanding of how social institutions influence humankind's lives and thinking, which is widely considered to be an important goal of the social studies. All three subjects generally play a subsidiary role to the social studies mainstays of geography, history, civics, and economics.
