ABSTRACT
Between his flight from Palermo and his installation in Rome, between his departure from Paris in 1773 and his arrival at Naples in 1774, and then again, after his stay at Cadiz, nothing was known about Giuseppe Balsamo. But at least one knew where he was born, what his parentage was, and the evidence of Antonio Bracconeri was decisive in regard to certain aspects of his early youth.
