ABSTRACT
The Fellah youngster in Palestine wishes his bride to he thus: She should nelight in weight, and she should have pretty red cheeks, and eyes as large and brilliant as a gazelle's or as large as coffee saucers; and she should have beautiful white teeth-and other similar things, for which no man has poor taste. The southern Slavs, on the other hand, prefer wide hipped women with heavy buttocks. They consider fleshiness a requirement for fertility. Above all, they must not be too extraordinary; or else they may be subject to ridicule.
