ABSTRACT

Among the Serbs a child which is born with a hood is called: widowit; the hood itself is called: koschuljiza, lucky shirt. They differentiate there between white and black (really, red) shirts. A lucky human is born with a white shirt. The black shirt, crvena koschuljiza, means that the child will become a sorcerer if it is a boy, and a witch if it is a girl. If the misfortune can "be discovered in time, it can never happen. So says Krauss according to Vis Vuletitsch.
