ABSTRACT
A common misconception about Islam is that Muslim states are universally religious and all of them strongly support Islam.1 While this is true of many Muslim states, it is not true of all of them. In fact, as the discussion in this chapter reveals, there is a wide diversity of state religion policies among Muslim states.
