ABSTRACT
Knowing that capitals always take over their nation’s representative function, it seems ironic that Tehran, the capital of the Islamic Republic of Iran, despite its government’s rigorous efforts to be opposed to everything that could be identified with the USA – from politics and social aspects to its youth culture and lifestyle – has more in common with the average American city than with any other city in its region.
