ABSTRACT
In short, by the only definition that means very much, Mr. Faulkner is a provincial writer. He belongs to the South, ifnot to the Southwest. Though he is not a folklorist, though he is more concerned with life than with regionalism, his book has shown unguessed possibilities in the treatment of provincial life without loss of universality.
