ABSTRACT
Doubts about secondary education for all are, as we have seen, of different kinds:
so many disengaged from formal education;
the impoverishment of culture in its accommodation to all;
the ‘counter-culture’ of the social worlds that young people inhabit;
the debilitating effects of social and economic disadvantage.
