It is probable that the poetic efforts accomplished by Cyprian were more numerous than wc can judge at the present time, for isolated verses have been discovered relating to the four books of Kings, the two Paralipomena and Job. We find also in old catalogues traces of a translation in verse of Judith and Esther. Perhaps Cyprian had attempted to put into verse the whole of the Old Testament, leaving himself free to omit from his scheme (as we sec he had done in different places) those portions which did not lend themselves to transposition.
