ABSTRACT
Dobrée (b. 1891) was Professor of English Literature at Leeds from 1936 to 1951. He was educated at Haileybury and Cambridge, and is the author of The Lamp and the Lute (1929), Modern Prose Style (1934) and The Early Eighteenth Century (1959).
